Private Sewage Systems

We issue installation permits and inspect newly constructed and/or renovated private sewage systems in Champaign County on behalf of the Champaign County Public Health Department . Call us at (217) 363-3269 for more information.

Obtaining a Sewage Permit

Complete the Champaign County Public Health Department Private Sewage Disposal Plan Review Application (see below) and submit it with the $200 application fee to the Champaign County Public Health Department. You may mail, email or hand deliver the application and fee, or you may fax the application to us for a preliminary review. NOTE: Final approval will not be given until we receive an original, signed copy of the application and the $200 fee.

Permit Approval

Environmental Health will process your application within 15 days.

System Installation

The Sewage Code requires a 48-hour notice prior to installation
