Q: Can we donate gently used and new medical supplies to the Health Department?

A: The Health Department can not accept any medical supplies. You may contact the Christian Health Center at 766-6666 to see if they could use them.

Q: How do I dispose of used needles at home?

A: Obtain a puncture proof container such as a hard plastic laundry container to dispose of needles. Discard container with household refuse.

Q: Does the Health Department teach courses in CPR and Blood-borne Pathogen Training?

A: The Public Health Department does not provide this training to the general public. You may contact the Red Cross, local hospitals, or local fire departments to see what type of training they have available.

Q: Where can I dispose of mercury thermometers?

A: Contact local Recycling Centers.

Q: What is my Certified Nurse Assistant status?

A: Contact the Illinois Department of Public Health @ 217-785-5133 as they maintain the Health Care Worker Registry.

Q: Where can I obtain literature to pass out to my school, church, or organization?

A: You may look through, or the Illinois Department of Public Health website www.idph.state.il.us to obtain printable publications.
