Sanitarian I or Sanitarian-in-Training

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) is seeking a full-time (35-hour week) Sanitarian I or Sanitarian-in-Training. The selected candidate will perform duties including environmental health evaluations and environmental health inspections of food services, on-site waste water systems, and private water supplies.

A Bachelor’s Degree in environmental health or a closely related field with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in a physical or biological science and licensed as an Environmental Health Practitioner in Illinois.

A Sanitarian-in-Training must have a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental health or a closely related field with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in a physical or biological science and must acquire an Illinois Environmental Health Practitioner’s license within three (3) years of employment.

CUPHD provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes health, dental, and vision insurance with enrollment beginning on the employee’s first day of employment; short-term and long-term disability benefits; vacation/sick/personal leave; fifteen (15) paid holidays per year; and a comprehensive pension plan offered through Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). The starting annual salary for a Sanitarian I is $33,449 for a 35-hour week; the annual salary for a Sanitarian-in-Training is $30,009 for a 35-hour week.
